Financial Stress and Its Physical Effects
Think about it, how many decisions a day are tied back to how much money you have? Is your month like the gas gauge in your car? When you fill it up it doesn’t matter where you have to go the price of gas is not even a thought but when it gets to a quarter of a tank you start thinking “is it really worth going there?”
How many times have we seen it in movies or inspiring stories that being poor is a virtue or that rich people are missing out on the “simple pleasures” of life? While I understand the premise of finding joy in the simple things and money can’t buy everything I can tell you with 100% certainty that not having enough money makes me sick.
Wealth is subjective and your idea of filthy rich is probably much different than mine and I admit it has changed over the years. When I was a little kid I always felt bad for my dad at Christmas. I would get Hot Wheels, toy guns, new basketball, and loads of other plastic things and my dad would only get one power tool. Now I know what power tools cost and I’m thinking I got ripped off as a kid, but all the things I wanted were relatively cheap compared to what my dad wanted. I told my wife that if we won the lottery of 200 million I wanted her to buy everything she ever wanted immediately and then we put the rest in an investment and live off the interest. Why would I give her such a crazy command? Because right now our wish list is the cheap plastic stuff, new cars, vacation, bigger TV, nice sound system, and a house for each of the kids even the 11 year old. On the same street of course. Given time I’m sure we would want the Cadillac Escalade with the rims that keep spinning, vacation homes all around the world, home theater that seats 30 and a house so big I don’t have to come in contact with any of my family without an appointment. At this point is probably when those “simple pleasures” stories are appropriate.
What does this have to do with health? I think that many times we place a value on being poor and cling to the “money can’t buy you happiness” well let me tell you that I am happier when I’m not worrying about not having enough! Think about it, how many decisions a day are tied back to how much money you have? Is your month like the gas gauge in your car? When you fill it up it doesn’t matter where you have to go the price of gas is not even a thought but when it gets to a quarter of a tank you start thinking “is it really worth going there?” When the red fuel low light comes on and the gas station is for another 30 miles are you thinking about all the times you wasted going to the store, taking the kids to practice, or all those trips to church? Now for the next 30 miles you are mad at your kids, the wife, and you can’t believe you gave money to the church with all those other people that have plenty of money and now you have to hope that you don’t run out of gas before the next payday! Your head hurts, your stomach aches, your depressed and then you get to the gas station, fill the car up, the light goes off and now that 30 mile trip to the store just to see if they have that “thing you wanted to see” is not a problem.
I recently was listening to Dr. Plant of Zija International, their lead formulator for their health line and was surprised to hear him say that one of the main reasons he decided to leave NIH was that Zija directly addresses one of the leading contributions to poor health, finances. Imagine that, a scientist that works to get nutrition to the cellular level of your body talking about how a person’s finances are just as important and he put it at the top of the list. I have to say that up to that point I had no problem telling people about how the nutrition, weight management and essential oils have improved and changed my life for the better. Yet when it came to making money in Zija and Améo I didn’t have the same motivation but here was a man that graduated from Harvard Medical School at the top of his class saying that financial well-being was a key part of the overall health of an individual. Well now I can say that not only do the products change your life for the better but the business opportunity will improve your overall health. Want to know more?
